Oxyfluorfen: What It Does & Where It Shines
Think of oxyfluorfen as a “weed gate-crash bouncer.” It stops uninvited annual grasses and broad-leaf weeds from stealing water, light and nutrients from high-value crops.
Where it fits best:
• Vineyards – keeps vineyard floors clean so wine and table grapes can concentrate on fruit quality.
• Tree nuts – in almonds, pistachios and pecans it slashes early-season weed pressure while trees are establishing.
• Orchards – apples, cherries, peaches and citrus all benefit from a pre-emergent blanket that lasts through critical spring flushes.
• Row crops – cotton, soybeans, corn and many vegetables gain a flexible weed-free window, either as a directed spray or burndown partner.
How it works:
Applied to soil or young weed foliage, oxyfluorfen forms a light-sensitive barrier. Sprouting weeds take it up, shut down chlorophyll protection, and die before they ever compete with the crop. Growers gain both pre-emergent insurance and early post-emergent “clean-up” in one pass.
